Zakk Wylde Plans To Re-Record Black Sabbath's Debut Album In Just 24 Hours

Ozzy Osbourne And Corey Taylor Special Announcement

Zakk Wylde and another member of Ozzy Osbourne's live band plan to pay tribute to Black Sabbath for the 50th anniversary of the band's self-titled debut album.

Zakk and his tribute band Zakk Sabbath, which includes Ozzy Osbourne bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson and former Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo, are going to re-record Black Sabbath completely analogue, direct to two-inch tape and in only 24 hours, just like the original album.

"Legendarily recorded in a single day in October 1969," the band said in a statement, "the earthmoving self-titled set closed the book on hippie optimism with its dark magic and ushered in a brand new genre, setting the metal template for decades to come."

Zakk Sabbath's released will be called, Vertigo, a reference to Black Sabbath's first record label.

The band added that a film crew will be on hand to document the process. When all is said and done, Zakk Sabbath hopes to have a limited-edition album and DVD release delivered on the 50th anniversary of Black Sabbath, February 13, 2020.

Unsurprisingly, all 500 pre-orders have already been sold.

Zakk Sabbath will tour this August. Get all the dates here.
