Rory McIlroy won the 2025 Masters Tournament, completing the career Grand Slam and winning his first major since 2014.
McIlroy, 35, defeated Justin Rose, who led through the first two rounds of the four-day tournament, in a sudden death playoff at Augusta National Golf Course. The Northern Ireland native missed a par putt, concluding regulation tied with Rose at 11-under par, before on the 18th hole before defeating Rose in a sudden death playoff by finishing at one over.
McIlroy is the sixth player to complete the career Grand Slam joining Gene Sarazen (1935), Ben Hogan (1953), Gary Player (1965), Jack Nicklaus (1966) and Tiger Woods (2000). The Northern Ireland native had previously won the PGA Championship twice in 2012 and 2014, the U.S. Open in 2011 and the Open Championship, in 2014, with his previous best finish at the Masters coming in 2022 when he finished three strokes shy of Scottie Scheffler following a -7 final round.
McIlroy finished with a 73 through 18 holes, which included six birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing the round at +1 and 11-under for the tournament. The 35-year-old entered the final day as the leader at 12-under, two strokes ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, who entered at 10-under and finished the day at +3.
