A woman was discovered dead on a boat docked at the upscale Montauk Yacht Club in the Hamptons early Tuesday morning (August 5). Suffolk County police were alerted to the scene around 4 a.m. on Star Island Road, but the woman's identity and cause of death remain unknown, according to a police spokesperson.

The Montauk Yacht Club, known for its luxurious amenities and high-end clientele, has been left shaken by the incident. The club, which offers rooms costing up to $1,500 a night, is a popular destination for celebrities and influencers, especially during the summer months.

Detectives from the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad are investigating the case, but details about who discovered the body or who reported it to the police have not been released. The medical examiner is working to determine how the woman died.

Violent crimes are rare in Montauk, a resort town at the tip of Long Island, known for its waterfront mansions and thriving tourist industry. The yacht club, often considered a family-friendly venue, has now become a crime scene, unsettling the tight-knit community.

The Montauk Yacht Club has not commented on the situation, and the investigation is ongoing.
